HQ and Accommodation

Race HQ

Race HQ is the "heart" of the event. Teams register, complete their competency checks and attend all briefings there. The course was traditionally designed in a clover leaf format out of HQ. Recent years has seen an evolution of this format to become more linear and teams likely won't pass through HQ during the race. The finish line will always be at HQ and the start line could be anywhere.

2012 Location

For 2012 the coastal and aquatic wonderland of the Great Lakes on the North Coast of NSW will play host to the Mountain Designs GeoQuest. 3 hours from Sydney, and 7 hours from Brisbane, the Great Lakes region boasts a glittering mosaic of inland waterways based around the impressive Wallis, Smiths and Myall Lakes networks – known as the Great Lakes. These lakes are surrounded by an undulating network of forests just waiting to be explored by adventure racers.

Race HQ is generally staged in or beside a holiday park (announced shortly). Most teams will book a cabin or campsite in the park and set up a "base camp" for the weekend.

Can I stay outside the park?

Staying outside the park can give greater flexibility in accommodation type, but does mean you and your support crew are further from all the excitement and activities that take place at HQ. You will not need to book a campsite in the park for a transition as in previous years.
